The DAYAW Earrings

The DAYAW Earrings

Shells, in their many forms, hold deep cultural significance in Pilipino heritage. For instance – prior to Spanish colonization – cowrie shells were used by some Pilipino communities as a form of currency, an emblem for spiritual protection, and as a symbol of status or wealth. Capiz shells – on the other hand – are commonly used to create parol and chandeliers as they are valued for their translucent effect. Other shells that are used for sartorial or decorative purposes include scallop shells, tibia shells, turbo shells, sundial shells, and more.

These earrings are an homage to the coastal life in the Philippines. Handmade from natural mussels and furnished with gold plated hardware reminiscent of the Philippine's tamborin jewelry, our DAYAW earrings are designed to elevate your daily outfits, add a lift to your natural makeup look, and take your editorial or black tie ensemble a step further.
